A 31-year-old man was blasted in the leg on Trinity Avenue near Pontiac Place in the Bronx around 4 a.m. Tuesday, cops said.
He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center in stable condition.
About two hours earlier, a 23-year-old man was shot in the stomach on Cruger Avenue near North Oak Drive, also in the Bronx, police sources said.
He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Around 15 minutes before that shooting, a 29-year-old man was sitting inside a 2019 Volkswagen at Prospect Avenue and Elsmere Place in the Crotona neighborhood when he was shot multiple times, cops said.
He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Cops did not have information on a suspect or motive. The victim was not immediately identified pending family notification.
Late Monday, in three different boroughs, the city saw a flurry of gun violence around the same time.
A 42-year-old man was blasted in the shoulder and the side of the neck on the grounds of the Astoria Houses in Queens around 11:10 p.m., cops said.
He was taken to NYC Health Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition.
In the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, a 22-year-old man fired in the direction of a rival on Jackson Avenue near East 147th Street around 11 p.m., police sources said. The other man returned fire, hitting him in the groin before taking off toward St. Mary’s Park.
The victim was taken to Lincoln Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police sources say the victim’s friend initially pulled out a weapon before passing it to him.
Around the same time in Port Richmond on Staten Island, a 19-year-old woman was blasted in the thigh on Castleton Avenue near West Street, cops said.
She was taken to Richmond University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Earlier in the evening, a 62-year-old church caretaker was fatally shot around 5:10 p.m. in front of Glorious Church of God on the corner of Halsey Street near Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police and sources said.
Edward James, affectionately known in the neighborhood as “Swaine,” was blasted in the torso and taken to the Kings County Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspected shooter, who may have targeted James, is believed to be a man in his 30s who fled on foot, sources said. A motive wasn’t immediately clear.
The slaying was the only homicide reported Monday.
The NYPD counted a total of 10 shootings with 11 victims Monday, according to preliminary figures.
On that day last year, there were four shootings with four victims, and no one was killed.
