#Astros’ Carlos Correa responds to CC Sabathia’s ‘clown’ jab

Carlos Correa said he’s not interested in the criticisms of him or his team as the scandal-plagued Astros play in the postseason — and that includes the ones leveled at the shortstop and Houston by CC Sabathia.

The former Yankee pitcher — who was part of the Yankees team when they lost to Houston in the 2017 ALCS — called Correa “a clown” on a recent podcast after the Astros beat the Twins to advance to the ALDS, saying, “I know a lot of people are mad. I know a lot of people don’t want to see us here, but what are they going to say now?”

Asked in Spanish prior to Game 1 of the ALCS on Sunday about Sabathia’s comments, Correa brushed them off.

“To me, it doesn’t matter what he says,’’ Correa said in Spanish, according to a translation. “My focus and motivation is to help my team win games. Not what others say.”

Correa has seemingly embraced the role of villain in the wake of MLB’s investigation last offseason that found the Astros used an illegal sign-stealing scheme in 2017, when they won the title.

Sabathia, listed as a special adviser to Yankees GM Brain Cashman, went after Correa on the “R2C2” podcast with Ryan Ruocco.

“They cheated and then they’re mad at us,’’ Sabathia said. “Like, get the f–k out of here. It’s a f–king joke. And then you finish under .500 this year. Like, shut the f–k up … The kid’s a clown, I’m sorry.”
