ECCO joining Brooklyn Navy Yard
It isn’t the biggest lease at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, but it’s a cool one. Danish footwear and leather goods retailer ECCO has taken 7,000 square feet for a design and prototyping studio at the Yard’s Building 212, its first studio space outside Denmark.
Building 212 is one of two at the Navy Yard that was developed entirely by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp.
It opened in 2019 with 130,000 square feet of manufacturing and creative office space. Its best-known tenant is the giant Wegmans supermarket, but it’s also home to design firms Fydelity, Poolside and Trendy Accessories.
The entire Yard is in the mist of a $1 billion expansion, which is expected to bring total jobs at the site from 11,000 today to 20,000 in the next few years.
