“Arsonist caught on camera trying to torch Wyoming abortion clinic”
Shocking video shows an arsonist trying to torch a soon-to-open abortion clinic that plans to be the only one of its kind in Wyoming.
Wearing a dark hoodie and jeans, the female firebug is seen carrying a red fuel can inside the Wellspring Health Access clinic, which has faced constant protests after announcing plans to open in Casper later this month.
The clip shows the white woman struggling to open the canister — at one point pulling down her mask, giving a clearer image of her face during the 30-second clip released Tuesday by Casper cops.
A $5,000 reward was also offered by the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Investigators said the fire was put out quickly thanks to a 911 call from a neighbor who heard smashing glass as the arsonist broke in at 3:30 a.m. on May 25. Fires had started in several areas of the building, police said.
The damage will put back the planned opening by several weeks or months, Wellspring founder Julie Burkhart said in a Facebook post.
“While this act of destruction is profoundly upsetting and presents new challenges, we remain unwavering in our commitment to ensuring that the people of Casper can access the reproductive health care they need,” she said.

“When the needed repairs have been completed, we will open our clinic with the goal of providing the full spectrum of reproductive health care, including OB-GYN care, family planning, gender-affirming care and abortion care.”
Since April, when Wellspring first announced the planned clinic, anti-abortion protesters have regularly rallied and held prayer vigils outside, according to local reports.
The clinic was planned for Wyoming because the state is an “abortion desert” where “women can’t get a procedural abortion from a doctor,” Wellspring explained online.

In fact, only one clinic in the Cowboy State currently offers any form of abortion — only through doctor-prescribed medicines for up to 10 weeks, the Laramie Boomerang noted.
“At 10 weeks, some women are just finding out they are pregnant. So, in essence, very few women can actually end a pregnancy in Wyoming,” Wellspring Health noted.
Wyoming is also one of many states with so-called “trigger laws” that would immediately make abortions illegal if — as expected — the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. Exceptions would include rape, incest or protecting the mother from death or serious medical harm.

Even that would not deter Wellspring, its founder vowed.
“We will fight tooth and nail to protect this fundamental right for the people of Wyoming regardless of what the Supreme Court does this summer,” Burkhart said soon after a draft of the court’s expected decision was leaked last month.
“Women and all people must be allowed to make decisions about their bodies, their families and their health without interference from politicians.”
