Aroldis Chapman couldn’t be with the Yankees on Opening Day Thursday in Washington as he’s still testing positive for coronavirus, but that didn’t dampen his excitement for the start of the 2020 MLB season.

The 32-year-old flamethrower was watching the game from home while working out — as he’s continued to do while having COVID-19 — and was hyped about the Yankees’ first game, especially when Giancarlo Stanton hit the first home run of the 2020 MLB season, a 459-foot two-run homer that put the Yanks up 2-0 in the first inning against the Nationals. The Yankees went on to win 4-1 in a rain-shortened result.

“1st bang of the season ? Let’s goooo ???,” Chapman posted on his Instagram story.

Chapman’s first positive coronavirus test result came on July 11, when he was said by manager Aaron Boone to have “mild symptoms.”

On Wednesday, general manager Brian Cashman said Chapman had recently been “mostly symptom-free.”
