Retro gamers have asked Arcade1Up to build TRON and Ridge Racer cabinets for years, and now, we’re finally getting the goods. Arcade1Up just announced its true-to-life TRON and Ridge Racer machines, both with recreations of their games’ original controls.
Originally released in 1982, TRON is one of the most highly sought-after classic arcade games of all time. But the TRON cabinet may be more famous than its game—it has one of the most unique designs of any arcade machine, invoking the style of TRON with purple graphics and a glowing joystick. Arcade1Up faithfully recreated this machine, of course, and it’s gorgeous.
But I’m more of a Ridge Racer fan, and as you can imagine, I’m happy to see how Arcade1Up replicated the original Ridge Racer machine. There’s a rumble steering wheel, foot pedals, and even a shift gear! Plus, the Ridge Racer cabinet comes with four extra games—Ridge Racer 2, Rave Racer, Ace Driver, and Ace Driver: Victory Lap.
Pre-orders for the TRON and Ridge Racer cabinets open October 19th and October 22nd, respectfully. Arcade1Up also plans to open pre-orders for its long-awaited Killer Instinct cabinet on October 10th. Pricing for the cabinets remains unannounced.
