It’s April 1 in Japan, and various anime-related April Fool’s announcements have started to emerge. We’ve decided to compile some of the funnier or more interesting announcements we’ve spotted, and will update this round-up as the day progresses.

Kaguya-sama Love Is War Ultra-romantic- releases Four Ramen Emperors of Tokyo “Reverse Key Visual”

The upcoming Kaguya-sama Love Is War Ultra-romantic- has received a “reverse” key visual featuring the Four Ramen Emperors of Tokyo. 

Genjitsu no Yohane – Sunshine in the Mirror anime announced with trailer

The Love Live! series official YouTube channel has released a trailer announcing an anime adaptation of Genjitsu no Yohane – Sunshine in the Mirror (notably with a question mark) with a 2023 release date. 

Genjitsu no Yohane – Sunshine in the Mirror began as a series of illustrations in 2020. A Love Live! Sunshine!! five-year anniversary exhibition held in 2021 featured the illustrations. A manga titled Genjitsu no Yohane -Unpolarized Reflexion- began earlier this year after being announced in 2021.

New Made in Abyss title directed by Prushka announced

The Made in Abyss Twitter account announced a new Made in Abyss title, with the character Prushka being credited as the director. A visual was also released.

Shadows House live-action movie trailer released

A live-action adaptation of Shadows House was announced with “preview footage.” Said footage features the use of puppets.

Flame Sword Princess “live-action” movie announced

A live-action movie adaptation of Flame Sword Princess, a fictional light novel series within the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club universe, was announced with Love Live! Nijigasaki character Setsuna Yuki as the lead actress. Some goods related to the “movie” were also revealed.
