“: Apple reportedly delays launch of mixed-reality headset until June”

Apple Inc. has pushed back the unveiling of its highly anticipated mixed-reality headset from April to June, according to a new report.

Bloomberg News reported Wednesday that the headset is now planned to debut at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, after product testing found improvements were needed on both the hardware and software sides.

has been working on the mixed-reality headset for years, and its launch has been delayed a number of times. In January, Bloomberg reported that the follow-up to the mixed-reality headset — lightweight augmented-reality glasses — were being delayed until 2024 or 2025.

In that report, Bloomberg reported the mixed-reality headset due this year would cost around $3,000.

Mixed reality combines real-world and digital elements, allowing users to interact in a virtual environment, as opposed to virtual reality, which is completely immersive, and augmented reality, which overlays virtual information, such as images, text and animation, over the real world.

Apple has not had a major product launch since AirPods wireless headphones in 2016.
