#Another fail by the NYC Department of Education

Did anyone at the city Department of Education think once, let alone twice, about allowing young students to be taught lessons from a curriculum drawn up by Black Lives Matter radicals? One that idealizes a cold-blooded cop-killer?

As The Post’s Selim Algar and Lee Brown report, city public schools are joining in a Black Lives Matter at School “week of action.”

The group’s Web site — which notes it is “committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement,” among other beliefs that we’re pretty sure most African Americans don’t share — centers on an inspirational quote from no less than Joanne Chesimard, a k a Assata Shakur, a Black Liberation Army terrorist convicted of the 1973 execution-style murder of a New Jersey state trooper, Werner Foerster.

In 1979, she escaped prison and fled to Cuba, where’s she’s believed to remain. In 2013, the Obama administration put her on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list, with a $1 million award for assisting in her capture.

Yet there she is on the BLM at School homepage, quoted as saying, “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win,” and, “We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

Maybe the BLMers don’t even know her history — or only know the distortions pushed by the far left for decades. Either way, this alone proves the group’s work is unfit for even an hour of any public-school curriculum.

And that’s quite apart from how its 13 Principles veer far from what most people understand as the core of the Black Lives Matter message.

The United Federation of Teachers voted last November to endorse the BLM week — but how many members looked past the headline? More important, it’s the duty of DOE higher-ups to look at this stuff and say “no” when it proves blatantly inappropriate.

But the folks running Mayor de Blasio’s DOE plainly don’t know how to say “no” to the UFT, or to rank idiocy when it poses as progressive thought. Still, we never expected them to fail this pathetically.
