The WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me anime series is getting a new theatrical anime. Further details will arrive at a later date.

A special trailer featuring scenes from the series was released alongside the announcement.

The new theatrical anime’s announcement was made on the same day as a livestreamed two-hour performance by the Wataten☆5 unit, which consists of several of the anime’s voice cast. The archive of the two-hour performance, called Wataten☆5 1st One-Man Live, will be available until February 12 11.59PM JST, with tickets still available until February 10 at 6PM JST.

WATATEN! originally premiered in January 2019 and ran for 12 episodes. An OVA was released in November 2019. The series’ staff includes Daisuke Hiramaki (Asteroid In Love) as director, Yuka Yamada (Asteroid In Love) as series composer, and Hiromi Nakagawa (Warlords of Sigrdrifa) and Mai Matsuura (Asteroid In Love) as chief animation directors. Nakagawa also served as character designer. DOGA KOBO handled the animation production.

The cast includes Reina Ueda as Miyako Hoshino, Maria Sashide as Hana Shirosaki, Rika Nagae as Hinata Hoshino, Akari Kitou as Noa Himesaka, Hitomi Oowada as Koyori Tanemura, Naomi Oozora as Kanon Konomori, and Lynn as Kouko Matsumoto. Sashide, Nagae, Kitou, Oowada, and Oozora make up the Wataten☆5 unit.

Miyako is a shy college student who is also an otaku. One day she happens to meet some angelic grade school kids! When Miyako sees her little sister’s new friend Hana-chan, Miyako’s heart won’t stop racing! Miyako tries to get along with them but struggles… A sketch comedy all about trying to get along with the super cute girl is about to begin!
