#Amazon Announces ‘Solos’ Anthology With Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway & More

Amazon Prime Video is packing some serious star power in its newly-announced anthology drama series Solos.

From showrunner David Weil, the show’s set to feature cast members Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Anthony Mackie, Dan Stevens, and Constance Wu. Solos will premiere on the streaming platform later this year.

“I am beyond thrilled to be bringing Solos to life alongside this group of artists who I so deeply admire. I created this piece with a desire to capture stories about connection, hope and the search for that common hum of humanity that binds us all,” Weil said in a statement released to the press. “I’m immensely grateful to Jennifer Salke and my incredible partners at Amazon for their unwavering support and collaboration on this special project.”

This isn’t Weil’s first project with the platform, he’s the creator of their controversial ’70s-set Nazi hunting dramedy, Hunters, featuring stars Logan Lerman and Al Pacino. This time around Weil’s Solos explores the deeper meaning of human connection through the lens of the individual.

Telling unique character-driven stories, the seven-part series serves to reveal how even in isolated moments, we’re all connected through the human experience. Weil who serves as showrunner, executive produces alongside Sam Taylor-Johnson, and Laura Lancaster. Pixie Wespiser is attached to the project as a producer. Directors for the season include Taylor-Johnson, Weil, Zach Braff, and Tiffany Johnson.
