All You Need Is Kill Anime Reveals Ai Mikami, Natsuki Hanae Main Casting

The main stars of the upcoming All You Need Is Kill anime film are actress Ai Mikami and Natsuki Hanae.

Mikami is voicing the film’s protagonist Rita, while Hanae is the voice of the original protagonist Keiji.

Character descriptions for the two were also released:

Rita

An 18 year old young volunteer known for her recognizable red hair.
Rita has closed herself off emotionally, building walls between herself and others. One
day, she was involved in an accident while working and lost consciousness—only to
wake up to the morning of the same day…

Keiji

A shy 20-year-old who works as a systems engineer and volunteers alongside Rita.
He usually hides behind a polite smile, trying to blend in and avoid standing out. But his unexpected encounter with Rita begins to awaken something long buried deep inside him.

The cast announcements come days ahead of All You Need Is Kill‘s premiere at Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025 as part of the Midnight Specials category, which features titles “for those passionate about satire, experimental films and thrills.” Annecy’s description of the anime reads:

All You Need Is Kill is inspired by the science fiction action light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka (illustrated by Yoshitoshi Abe and published in 2004 under Shueisha’s Super Dash Bunko label), which has also inspired a manga and a Tom Cruise-starring Hollywood film. The original story followed Keiji Kiriya, who is one of many regular soldiers who are sent to fight the invading Mimic aliens using the Jacket armor. After ending up in a time loop and experiencing dozens of deaths, Keiji is eventually gets contacted by Rita, a formidable soldier who has the moniker of the Full Metal Bitch.

An earlier press release for the anime’s announcement said that the new adaptation “recreates the story through a fresh perspective, focusing on Ritaʼs inner journey as a warrior, delving into her loneliness, struggles, and personal growth.” Watch the teaser trailer from March below:
