You think your gaming monitor is pretty cool, don’t you? While I’m sure yours is a lot better than mine, it’s no match for Alienware’s new AW3423DW gaming monitor—the first computer screen to feature Quantum Dot OLED technology.

Now, you’ve probably heard of Organic LED (OLED) and Quantum Dot LED (QLED) display technologies. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, especially when it comes to pricing. But we don’t have time to cover those differences in detail, so here’s what you need to know—OLED screens offer top-of-the-line picture quality and contrast, but they lack the peak brightness or color uniformity of QLED screens.

Alienware’s Quantum Dot OLED display combines the best of OLED and QLED, meaning that you get deep contrast, true blacks, a higher color gamut with increased uniformity, and of course, a high peak brightness (1000 nits with HDR) for daytime use.

But the Alienware AW3423DW isn’t just a pretty display panel. It’s a 34-inch curved 21:9 monitor with killer gaming specs like a 175Hz refresh rate (over DisplayPort), NVIDIA G-Sync Ultimate, DisplayHDR1000 support, and a “Creator Mode” that lets you jump between sRGB and 99.3% DCI-P3 color spaces. Oh, and of course, there’s VESA compatibility.

Unfortunately, the monitor has a resolution of just 2440×1440, and Alienware hasn’t revealed its latency or other detailed specs.

The Alienware AW3423DW launches this March in the U.S. and China, with a global release scheduled for April. We don’t know how much the monitor will cost, but we assume it will be very expensive.
