Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito Inspires Anime

The Ichijinsha-published Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito series, which spawned from a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel by Makiburo, is getting an an anime adaptation.

The premise sees protagonist Emi reincarnating as Remilia, the villainess of an otome game. While Emi initially plans to craft strategic relationships to avoid her character’s fate, certain events lead to her losing consciousness and Remilia to resurface. As Remilia was privy to Emi’s efforts and the events that unfolded, she decides to take revenge for Emi’s sake.

The Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito web novel started in May 2020, while the first volume of the Mai Murasaki-illustrated light novel series, which is published under the Ichijinsha Novels label, was released in February 2021. There is also a manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume, which released its final chapter on the date of the anime’s announcement.

The light novel series has two volumes as of 2024, while the manga will release its sixth volume on June 25, 2025 JST.

According to Comic Natalie, the Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito series has more than two million copies in circulation, and that the sixth volume of the manga will also be its last. The manga placed third at Web Manga Sousenkyo 2023.
