#ABC News to air exclusive interview with John Bolton before book release

Former national security adviser John Bolton will sit down with ABC News for an exclusive interview two days before publication of his tell-all book about his days as a Trump White House insider, the network announced on Monday.

Bolton, whose book “The Room Where It Happened” is scheduled to hit bookshelves next Tuesday, will be interviewed by ABC News’ Martha Raddatz on Sunday during a prime-time special from 9 to 10 p.m.

ABC News said Bolton’s book and interview will “take readers and viewers inside the decision-making process at the White House.”

He will provide a “first-hand account” of meetings in the Oval Office, President Trump’s controversial summit in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin and negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“For the first time publicly, Bolton will also present his account of the July 25, 2019 phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and discuss why he didn’t testify during the president’s impeachment trial,” the statement said.

The hawkish Bolton, who left the administration last year after butting heads with Trump over foreign policy, pledged to release the book next week despite being in a standoff with the White House over classified information it may contain.

Simon & Schuster, the publisher, touted Bolton’s 592-page memoir as “the book Donald Trump doesn’t want you to read.”
