#The Elusive Samurai Releases Character Visual & PV Trailer for Ayako
Another new character visual and PV trailer has been released for the The Elusive Samurai TV anime series, highlighting the character Ayako (voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro). The anime is set to premiere sometime in 2024.
Yuuta Yamazaki (Wonder Egg Priority assistant director) is serving as director for the anime, with Yasushi Nishiya (Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle sub-character designer) as character designer, and Yoriko Tomita (My Dress-Up Darling) as series screenwriter. CloverWorks is handling the animation production for the series.
Besides Suzushiro as Ayako, the anime’s voice cast includes:
- • Asaki Yuikawa as Hojo
- • Yuuichi Nakamura as Suwa Yorishige
- • Mari Hino as Kojirou
- • Aoi Yuuki as Genba Kazama
- • Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki
The Elusive Samurai is based on the manga series by Yuusei Matsui, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on January 25, 2021. Thirteen tankoubon volumes have been released as of November 2023. Viz Media releases the manga in English print.
Shueisha also simulpublishes the series in English and Spanish digitally on the Manga Plus app, which describes the synopsis as:
Set in feudal Japan in between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, our hero Hojo Tokiyuki is a boy on the run that history all but forgot! When the Kamakura shogunate is overthrown by Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki’s family and standing are viciously taken away from him, and he must flee to the far reaches of the land to survive and seek out his revenge!
