“#Cops release surveillance video of vandals tagging NYC lawyer’s home”
Several suspects are captured on footage released late Monday dismounting their bicycles and spray-painting the sidewalk in front of Mastro’s home on East 83rd Street near Madison Avenue around 1 a.m. Oct. 21.
Red paint was splashed on the front door and the words “prick,” “shame,” “Randy Mastro you can’t displace us” and “F–k you Randy” were written on the building’s facade and sidewalk in red and pink.
The suspects also hurled red paint and chucked eggs at the front door and outside of the home, authorities said.
They also damaged the front door locks with glue, according to police.
Mastro, a former deputy mayor under Rudy Giuliani, was not home when his property was targeted — but he was alerted by a neighbor whose home was also vandalized. They both reported the incident to the NYPD, a source told the Post.
The vandals remained at large Tuesday morning.
“This is a very sad day to see a genuine debate about serious issues involving the homeless devolve into vandalism targeting my family’s home. The persons who did this are criminals who should be brought to justice. And if they thought they were going to intimidate me, they picked the wrong guy,” Mastro told The Post at the time.
About 235 homeless men with mental illness or struggling with substance abuse are living at the Lucerne Hotel on West 79th Street near Amsterdam Avenue.
