Matt Berninger: Serpentine Prison [Book/Concord]
Nearly a full year has passed since the National’s Matt Berninger announced his debut solo album, Serpentine Prison. Booker T. Jones, of the famed Booker T. & the M.G.’s, produced and arranged the album, and it arrives on the Book Records imprint that Berninger and Jones launched with Concord Records. Berninger shared a few tracks from the album ahead of its release: “Distant Axis,” “One More Second,” and “Serpentine Prison.”

Kevin Morby: Sundowner [Dead Oceans]
Sundowner is the sixth solo album from Kevin Morby, which he worked on with a four-track Tascam 424 recorder. “I was mesmerized by the magic of the four track not only as a recording device, but also an instrument, and considered it my songwriting partner throughout the whole process,” he said in a statement. Katie Crutchfield, Morby’s partner and the leader of Waxahatchee, appears in the videos for “Campfire” and “Wander.”
