6 Fun Outdoor Activities for Adventure Lovers

There’s nothing quite like feeling adrenaline coursing through your veins. For a moment, the world around you is a little brighter, your sense of smell is better, and your eyesight can make things appear to be moving in slow motion. The effects of being adventurous can be extremely rewarding.

According to Good News Network, 68% of Americans want to be more adventurous, and 77% claim to be happier when they push themselves to be. It’s no surprise that those who seek more thrills experience them.

So, to help you along the road to happiness, here’s a list of six outdoor activities for any type of adventure lover.

Motorsports

The sound of a roaring engine beneath you and the wind blowing past you can be enchanting. There is a kind of magic in the experience. A mere 125cc engine throws you through the woods, up a sand dune, or on a beach.

There are a ton of places around the United States to ride. A simple google search might help you plan your next trip. Some popular destinations include parts of Northwestern Oregon, where dune jumping and sandboarding are popular attractions. However, the luxury of an ATV is their go-anywhere nature. So, plan and go.

Ziplining

Ziplining is a terrific option for all sorts of adventurers, new and old. It’s not very physical, and the only participation is strapping in and allowing nature to take its course. Glide like a bird over a forest canopy or experience the humbling sights of distant mountains while hundreds of feet in the air.

While not every ziplining experience is the same, you can choose which difficultly level you desire. Although, even beginner courses are tremendously fun. In fact, this push outside your comfort zone may ignite a new passion. The low-intensity activity provides you with amble pockets of adrenaline while exposing you to luxurious landscapes.

Scuba Diving

If motorsports and heights aren’t of interest to you, consider plunging into the depths of a dark body of water. Being submerged in the water is a thrill unlike any other. It’s akin to becoming an explorer of a new planet, bravely swimming into the unknown, a world not so different than our own but wildly unrealized.

Scuba diving typically requires a brief class for certification. Afterward, you can venture freely, with the right equipment to places unknown. It can also help bolster new respect for the creatures that share our world.

Cave Diving

Cave diving or spelunking is a great option for those who aren’t afraid of tight spaces and dark caverns. The first time you go may feel something like an early 2000’s horror movie, but after pushing past this irrational fear, it’s a wonderful time.

Depending on the conditions of the cave and its access spot, some caves may be reserved for experienced spelunkers. However, there are tons of others for you to enjoy if you’re new to the spelunking scene.

Hiking

Hiking and walking have always been crowd favorites in every part of the world. In some places, cars are a luxury, and walking has been the most trusted means of transportation for millennia. It’s also one of the most adventurous things a person can do.

Go for a hike and allow your feet to carry you far beyond where a car or truck can. Sometimes hiking is the only way to take in the beauty of a sunset from the side of a mountain.

Biking

Biking is another great option that can take you from winding country roads to traversing rocky cliff sides. It’s a fantastic form of exercise, and for adrenaline junkies, it can provide ample thrills as you precariously navigate slippery terrain along steep cliffs.

There are several kinds of biking. There is the recreational cruise along suburban streets, road biking through country roads, and mountain biking for extreme adventurers.

Just Get Out There!

There is no magic recipe for satisfying your appetite for adventure. Everyone’s hunger is different, but there are plenty of ways to feed it. The best option if you are indecisive is to get out there. Experience it all, live with no regrets. Grab an old friend to go with you or make new ones along the way, but studies show you may be happier when you push yourself.
