50 Cent had fans talking about his recent move to Houston, Texas after he announced he was switching area codes with an Instagram post on May 5. The Queens legend has been living it up winning awards and embracing the locals, but 50’s most meaningful gesture came from what he did for the teenagers in Houston.

On Monday (May 17), 50 Cent announced he will be joining forces with Houston mayor Sylvester Turner for an educational program intended to assist three local high schools with low academic performance.

For the program, 50 committed $600,000 in a partnership with Houston ISD, Horizon United and the G-Unity Foundation that will fund the new G-Star program at Wheatley, Worthing, and Kashmere high schools in Houston. 50’s program will help students at these three schools learn various business skills that focus on entrepreneurship while providing the teens with lessons at the College Masters level.

50 took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself and Houston officials holding the check worth $600,000.

“The kids that won’t listen to nobody, will listen to me, we come out of the same kinda confusion,” 50 wrote in the caption of one of his three posts. “This program is just gonna show them how to win. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi.”

Mayor Turner added in a statement, “This program is another platform to help build the leaders and workforce of the future. Educational opportunities play a key role in Houston’s quality of life.”

50’s educational program has been in development for over two years. Despite only starting in three schools, the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper aims to have the program open up in schools all across the country.
