Hightown is just one of the TV shows to check out this weekend, July 4-5

It’s Fourth of July Weekend. Usually, that would mean spending time out on the beach or at the closest parade. This year is working a little differently, so you may need some TV shows to keep you company.

There is something for all. Whether you want some time away from the kids or you want to watch something with the kids, there are options on broadcast and on streaming services.

Here are the five top TV shows to watch over July 4 Weekend.

Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular

While the Fourth of July celebrations won’t necessarily be happening near you, it doesn’t mean you can’t watch the fireworks. As usual, Macy is sponsoring the Fireworks Spectacular.

There are some great performances from your favorite artists, including Brad Paisley and John Legend. It all ends with the biggest firework display.

Everything starts at 8 p.m. ET on NBC on, well, July 4!

Hightown

There isn’t a new episode on tonight, but that doesn’t mean you can’t watch the STARZ TV crime drama. Like it does with so many other shows, STARZ is opting for a week break before the Hightown Season 1 finale.

To make up for it, there’s a marathon of the seven episodes from the season. Binge-watch in full ready for the finale next week.

Lucy Worsley’s Royal Myths and Secrets

Sometimes you want something based on fact. PBS has you covered more times than not, and this weekend, it’s all about Lucy Worsley’s Royal Myths and Secrets. Worsley is a passionate and engaging historian that makes her topics come to life. Usually, she focuses on British history, but we’re heading to France for Sunday’s episode.

Worsley is exploring the history of Marie Antoinette. It’s time to get rid of the myths (“Let them eat cake”) and learn the truth. What did lead to her being executed by the French people?

The episode airs on Sunday at 8/7c on PBS.

The Baby-Sitters Club

Turn to Netflix for TV shows this weekend. There are a lot of great new additions. If you want horror, you’ve got Ju-On: Origins or you can watch Warrior Nun if you’re interested in fantasy. But what about if you want something to watch with the kids?

The Baby-Sitters Club is an easy binge-watch that is a lot of fun. Fans of the novels will find lots of nostalgia, while those who haven’t read the books will just enjoy the show for what it is. The main characters offer something for everyone and there are a lot of lessons for young girls.

Father Brown

Turn to BritBox for the last show on this list. Father Brown Season 8 premiered on the streaming service. There are two episodes to watch right now, with the first seeing our priest figure out who is sabotaging a choir in a competition.

The episodes are released weekly, with two episodes per week. If you run out of content this weekend, you can always watch the first seven seasons of Father Brown, also on BritBox.
