#3 Love Live! Groups Come Together for NHK Songs of Tokyo Music Special

For the first time, members from Love Live! groups Aqours, Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, and the fresh faces of the franchise Liella!, will be appearing together on NHK musical documentary series Songs of Tokyo, with the former two groups performing their hit songs on the program. The program will be streamed on NHK World Japan on March 22, with a domestic broadcast on NHK-G on March 28.

“SONGS OF TOKYO brings you the latest from the Japanese music scene. The upcoming episode will feature three school idol groups from the popular “Love Live!” series, a multimedia franchise that has been made into anime, games, and print. It follows the growth of school idols. “Love Live!” started in 2010 with the μ’s and later expanded with Aqours, Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, and Liella!. It has a growing international fan base-cosplayers can be seen in overseas anime events and feature length animations have been screened abroad.

In the program, there is a performance and talk by the duo units of Komiya Arisa (Kurosawa Dia) and Furihata Ai (Kurosawa Ruby), and Aida Rikako (Sakurauchi Riko) and Saito Shuka (Watanabe You) from Aqours, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. Nijigasaki High School Idol Club performs two songs and four of the members (Onishi Aguri, Maeda Kaori, Kubota Miyu, Murakami Natsumi) join the talk session. Five members (Date Sayuri, Liyuu, Misaki Nako, Payton Naomi, Aoyama Nagisa) from Liella! also join the show. Liella! will be making their CD debut in April and will be featured in an anime starting in July.”

The special features Aqours singing “Manatsu wa Dare no Mono?” and “Misty Frosty Love”, and Nijigasaki High School Idol Club singing “Mirai Harmony” and “NEO SKY, NEO MAP!” alongside interviews with the members of the three groups.

Liella! debuts in anime form in Love Live! Superstar!! TV anime, which is set to start airing on NHK-E in July.
