#1st anniversary of St. James Joy dance party celebrated in NYC

A joyful pandemic block party — centered on the city’s daily 7 o’clock cheer for first responders — returned in its full glory to Brooklyn’s St. James Place on Saturday afternoon.

Hundreds of mostly-masked revelers of all ages, races and skills boogied on the brownstone block in Clinton Hill, where a father and son DJ plugged their turntables in one more time.

All were commemorating the anniversary of the nightly dance party the duo started in the pandemic’s darkest days.

It’s been a year since Jo Vill and his son Chad first set the nightly 7 p.m. celebration of COVID-19 first responders to a beat, turning stoops into dance studios at St. James Place and Greene Avenue.

On Saturday, there was fancy footwork once again, as all New Yorkers hope to turn the corner on a year most would like to forget.
