#You’re Next Releases New “Who’s Next” PV Trailer
In support of the upcoming release of My Hero Academia: You’re Next, a special new “Who’s Next” PV trailer has been released, which includes some news scenes from the anime film and features the main theme song “Homunculus” by Vaundy.
The fourth film in the long-running franchise will be released in Japanese theaters on August 2, 2024. It will screen in North American theaters in both subbed and dubbed languages on October 11, 2024.
Another shorter 55-second special PV trailer was also released a day earlier this week.
Tensai Okamura (Darker Than Black, Wolf’s Rain, Blue Exorcist, Kuromukuro) is directing the anime film, with Kenji Nagasaki (director of the previous movies and TV series’ first three seasons, current chief director of TV series) as animation advisor, Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia series screenwriter, previous films’ scriptwriter) as scriptwriter, and Yuki Hayashi (returning) as music composer. Bones is handling the animation production.
The main voice cast from the TV anime series are all reprising their roles for the fourth film.
The previous My Hero Academia films include 2018’s Two Heroes, 2019’s Heroes Rising, and 2021’s World Heroes’ Mission.
The My Hero Academia TV series first premiered in 2016 and is currently airing its seventh season that began on May 4, 2024. Crunchyroll is streaming all seasons and previous films worldwide.
The anime is based on the original manga series by Kohei Horikoshi, which was first launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 7, 2014. The manga series has released 40 tankobon volumes as of April 2024, with a 41st volume set for release on August 2, 2024.
VIZ Media releases the manga in English, and describes the main synopsis as:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
