KADOKAWA’s light novel imprint Fantasia Bunko teams up with Tatsunoko Productions, a pioneering Japanese animation studio, to release a light novel commemorating the studio’s 60th Anniversary and the imprint’s 35th anniversary, Isekai Doronjo no Yabou (The Ambition of Doronjo in Another World), on May 19, 2023. Kenta Diraku (Shichinin no Bukiya, BIG-4) serves as writer,while Miyama-Zero (High School DxD) works on illustrations.

As its title suggests, the novel features Doronjo, one of the main villains from Tatsunoko’s classic anime series Yatterman, as the protagonist. The anime was aired for 108 episodes from 1977 to 1979 as the second installment in the studio’s popular time travel-themed Time Bokan franchise. In its long history, she has been particularly popular, and in 2022, even a live-action drama series entitled DORONJO was produced with her in the lead role.

Synopsis:

 

Again today, Doronjo and her gang members are busy fighting Yatterman. In the middle of such a battle, a mysterious dragon appears and joins the Doronbo Gang. Doronjo wins the battle against Yatterman by a mysterious phenomenon, but soon after, she is led by the dragon to another world! There, she meets …… Drolia, a princess of another world and a girl who yearns to be a member of the Doronbo Gang. Doronjo blusters the princess who has to face a harsh fate due to the interference to Doronjo in a parallel world, “I don’t like the idea of being punished so easily…! I’ll make that fate never happen!” She deals with the gods of another world and unknown beings alike with the indomitable spirit! The Doronbo Gang of the Reiwa era is here!
