XXXTENTACION‘s murder trial is back in the news after one of the co-defendants, Robert Allen, has accepted a plea deal and will testify for the state.

On Friday (August 12), Allen pleaded guilty, and although he could still receive a possible life sentence, he hopes the penalty will be lessened after he testifies against his co-defendants, Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams and Trayvon Newsome.

“Robert Allen… entered a guilty plea,” Allen’s attorney Jim Lewis told NBC 6 South Florida. “He pled to a lesser included offense of second-degree murder and robbery with a firearm.”

He added: “Mr. Allen’s role in this, it was much less than the other three. More of an accessory after the fact than really part of the planning. Certainly, he never got out of the car, never had a gun, never shot anybody.”

Surveillance video from the incident showed Allen outside RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida, where X was shot and killed in an apparent robbery. Boatwright, Williams and Newsome are all facing first-degree murder charges for their alleged roles in the murder of the rapper back in June 2018.

According to NBC 6 South Florida, Allen’s sentencing is scheduled for February 23 before Broward Circuit Judge Michael Usan.

The Hip Hop world is still reeling from XXX’s untimely passing with rappers and fans still remembering the late artist.

Lil Uzi Vert paid tribute to XXXTENTACION during his performance at Pharrell’s Something In The Water festival in Washington, D.C. in June. Before closing out his explosive set, Uzi took a moment to remember XXX and their friendly competition during his brief yet impactful time in the spotlight.

“It was an artist by the name of XXX… Rest in peace to XXX,” he told the crowd. “I’m not gonna lie, music was a little bit different around that time — and different in a good way. That was like my only competition.”

He continued: “Every time I dropped, he dropped. Or every time he dropped, I dropped. And he would go number one or I’d go number one. Either way it was gonna go, one of us was gonna turn it up, so I think you should play some XXX shit.”

As Uzi left the stage, his DJ launched into XXXTENTACION’s fan-favorite breakout hit “Look At Me!,” which brought the crowd into a frenzy. Shortly after XXXTentacion passed away, Lil Uzi Vert announced he would be launching a foundation to support his family and child (who was unborn at the time).
