#Workers linked to Biden campaign preparing venue for VP announcement

Workers linked to Joe Biden’s campaign are quietly preparing a ballroom in downtown Wilmington, Del., for an event as the former vice president is poised to announce his running mate and accept the Democratic nomination, according to a report Tuesday.

The workers were spotted entering the side door of the Hotel Du Pont, where Biden announced his 1972 Senate bid, but remained tight-lipped about what they were doing.

“Can’t tell you,” one of them told the New York Times when asked near midnight Tuesday why they were working late.

The workers appeared to be from BNY Production, a frequent vendor for the Biden campaign, the newspaper reported, citing Federal Election Commission records.

A truck from Wizard Studios, an event production company that has also worked for the campaign, was parked outside the hotel Monday.

The ballroom was outfitted in purple and blue lighting and screens had been placed under the chandeliers.

The Biden campaign did not comment to the Times about the preparations.

Biden is expected to accept the Democratic presidential nomination in a virtual speech next Thursday.

His announcement of a running mate reportedly could come any day.
