#Giants kicker options if they release Aldrick Rosas after hit-and-run arrest

The Giants might need a new kicker. A future Hall of Famer is available.

Actually, two potential Hall of Famers are available.

Imagine Stephen Gostkowski in a Giants uniform? Or, even wilder, Adam Vinatieri?

Only a few days ago, there was not even a hint of discussion about replacing Aldrick Rosas, who as a restricted free agent was re-signed to a one-year deal worth $3.2 million. That was before Rosas, 25, was arrested in Chico, Calif. and booked at Butte County Jail on a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge, along with driving with a suspended license. A California Highway Patrol report stated “Alcohol impairment is believed to be a factor in the collision.’’

This could lead to the Giants releasing Rosas – they would not incur any salary cap hit – or the NFL suspending Rosas for violating the Personal Conduct Policy in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This figures to prompt the Giants, at the very least, to add a second or a third kicker to the roster. Training camp opens up at the end of July and head coach Joe Judge needs to see what options he has at kicker, whether Rosas is on the team at that point, or not.

Here are the likely candidates:

Stephen Gostkowski

The 36-year old in 14 years with the Patriots made it to six Super Bowls and won three of them. His field-goal percentage of 87.4 is the fifth-highest in NFL history and Judge was with him in New England the past eight years. A left hip injury limited Gostkowski to only four games last season and he missed four extra points (he was 7 of 8 on field goals). He is not what he was but, if healthy, could be a one-year stopgap possibility.

Ryan Succop

The 33-year old missed 10 games last season with a knee injury and was only 1 of 6 on field goals for the Titans. He had not been lower than 83.3 percent since 2013.

Nick Folk

He played in seven games for the Patriots in 2019, so Judge has a working knowledge of him (Folk went 14 of 17 on field goals in his time in New England). The well-traveled 12-year veteran has a career field-goal percentage of 80.4.

Adam Vinatieri

Yeah, he’s 47 years old and is coming off knee surgery. But he’s made more big kicks than anyone in NFL history and he has not yet officially retired. The 14-year veteran, kicking for the Patriots and Colts, has a career field goal percentage of 83.8 and should join Jan Stenerud and Morten Andersen as the third pure kicker in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Logan Justus

The former Indiana University kicker was not selected in the NFL Draft. His agent, Zack Gottfried, told The Post he spoke with two Giants scouts about Justus since the Rosas arrest. Justus hit 82 percent of his field goals for the Hoosiers. Other college kicker possibilities include J.J.Molson (UCLA) and Cooper Rothe (Wyoming).
