Tamaqua, PA – A woman who refused to turn down Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s raunchy hit single “WAP” reportedly found herself in handcuffs on Friday (July 23). According to Yahoo! News, 36-year-old Stephanie Crute and her two daughters were posted up at the Bungalow Pool in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania where they were blasting the song through a Bluetooth speaker.

Tamaqua Police Chief Michael Hobbs said officers were called to the scene with reports of a disturbance and asked the three women to leave, but they refused.

Chief Hobbs said Crute then pushed one of the officers as his back was turned. When the other officers attempted to handcuff her, she allegedly started punching at the officers and other pool patrons. Hobbs also said Crute’s 11-year-old daughter attacked an officer from behind as he was trying to place her mother in handcuffs.

Even while restrained, Crute continued to kick an officer before she was put in the back of a police cruiser. Hobbs said one officer was transported to a local hospital after suffering an injury during the altercation.

Crute was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and resisting arrest as well as summary harassment and disorderly conduct and booked into Schuylkill County Prison. Although initially unable to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail, she eventually was released on Monday (July 26). The 11-year-old daughter was released to the custody of her father.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer has been scheduled for August 3.

“WAP” arrived in August 2020 and drew instant criticism due to its sexually explicit nature and suggestive video. Even so, the single landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the video itself has over 409 million YouTube views.
