#Damon Wayans Jr. Thinks Sex Scenes in Movies Should be More Realistic: “It’s Wack a Lot of the Time”

Damon Wayans Jr. is revealing one thing he would change about romantic comedies.

The actor, who stars in the new Netflix rom-com Players, recently told Yahoo Entertainment that he feels sex scenes in movies should be more realistic.

“I think what I would lose is how good the sex is in all the movies because they’re always like rolling off each other, like, ‘That was crazy.’ … It’s wack a lot of the time,” Wayans said. He added that he would prefer to see “stuff that happens in real life.”

The New Girl actor also admitted that he initially didn’t like the typical rom-com format, but after filming Players, alongside Gina Rodriguez, his perspective changed.

“I used to not like the idea of knowing how the movie is going to end from the beginning, but after doing this movie, I thought because this was such a fresh take on the rom-com, that I’m OK with [knowing the ending],” Wayans said. “I already knew how the movie was going to end by the second scene, even when reading [the script], but the journey is what kind of differentiates it. So I’m cool with that staying the same.”

Players follows New York sportswriter Mack (Rodriguez), who has spent years creating successful hook-up techniques with her friends, but when she unexpectedly catches feelings for one of her targets, she must change up her game plan.

Wayans isn’t the only actor who recently shared his thoughts on sex scenes. Henry Cavill said earlier this month that he’s “not a fan” of filming intimate scenes in movies and TV shows.

“I don’t understand them, I’m not a fan,” Cavill said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I think there are circumstances where a sex scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience, but I think sometimes they’re overused these days.”

He later added, “Most of the time the human imagination is going to trump it. So it can be a little bit of a cop out if a TV show or a movie is just filled with gyrating bodies and you’re going, ‘Okay, but what is this doing for us apart from the idea of, oh naked person, great.’”
