“Where you Know the Voice Actors From”

Seven Deadly Sins features many emotional moments. This episodic anime takes viewers on a roller-coaster of emotions with incredible fight scenes, hilarious hijinks, and romances that tug at the heartstrings. And that couldn’t be done without the terrific cast behind the main characters’ voices.

Here, we’re going to review the voice actors behind the Seven Deadly Sins crew members and reflect on the different roles that they’ve had throughout their careers. From Escanor all the way to the captain, Meliodas, the team has a long list of roles on their resume, so let’s see where you may have heard these voices before.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

7 Escanor – Kyle Hebert

As Escanor, Kyle has gotten to show off the bass of his voice and commit to a role of unimaginable power. Kyle would also get to show off the tender side with Escanor’s poetry and his unreciprocated love for Merlin. Kyle Hebert has a long list of appearances in well-known anime, all of which have a high level of power attached to them.

He’s appeared as the hero Fat Gum in My Hero Academia, a role where he would get to use the weight of his voice to match the character and help raise young heroes like Red Riot to battle villains despite the overwhelming odds. Kyle would also get to have some growl in his voice for the role of Kiba in the Naruto franchise. And he would continue to be a strong hero when taking on the role of the adult Gohan in the Dragon Ball franchise.

6 Merlin – Lauren Landa

Merlin would always carry an air of confidence and superiority, and a strong reason for that was the voice work of Lauren Landa. Maintaining the poise of such a powerful and head-strong character takes careful balance from a voice actor, and Lauren has the credentials to back up her showing here.

Showing off her fighting chops, Lauren has a litany of acting credits in video games, most notably as Karin Kanzuki in Street Fighter V (2016). Lauren would also voice another character with untold power when she played Annie Leonhart in the hit anime Attack on Titan. The magic wouldn’t end with Merlin, however, with Lauren Landa appearing in one of the most well-known magical-girl-anime as Sailor Neptune in Sailor Moon.

5 Gowther – Erik Scott Kimerer

Gowther tends to be a very monotonous character. That said, when they begin a speech that conveys heavy emotion, it becomes all the more palpable. The power that can be carried with such little inflection is accomplished well by Erik and is even more impressive when you look at all the animated characters he’s played in the past.

Making appearances as the snarky rival Blue in Pokemon Generations, Erik would get to play an antagonistic bully. He would do much of the same when he played the part of Speed O’Sound Sonic in One Punch Man. Gowther trends more towards a nonbinary aspect, and Erik has shown a tendency to play these characters in the past, having voiced the androgynous Fish-Eye from Sailor Moon in the past.

4 King- Max Mittleman

King has shown a prominent personality throughout his time on screen, so he needed to have a voice actor with plenty of range. Max Mittleman has a long resume with plenty of roles that exemplify that range to a considerable degree. Whether he be the stoic guardian of the forest or lovesick over Diane, we’re going to look at the roles that helped prepare Max for the role.

Max has gotten to play a character with a true split persona, as he would take on the role of Harry Osborn/Hobgoblin in Disney XD’s Spider-Man series. He would also show off his more playful side when playing the kwami, Plagg, in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. And his stoicism would be on full display when he voiced the super-powerful Saitama in One Punch Man.

3 Ban – Ben Diskin

Ban is an active type, usually providing comic relief for the team. Carrying a free spirit, Ban can quickly rage when his friends and loved ones are put in harm’s way. Ban is also shown to be more capable of affection, whether for his true love, Elaine, or his adoptive father. Ben Diskin plays the role admirably well, and it’s not hard to see why when you look at his list of accomplishments in the industry.

Ben Diskin has appeared in multiple mediums, providing his voice for anime, video games, and even live action. One of his most under-the-radar roles came in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, where he provided the voice for Beebo. Ben would also play the voice of Nino in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, where he would again display his carefree spirit. He’d also get to show off his deadly grimace as Death Gun in Sword Art Online.

2 Diane – Erica Mendez

Diane can be the true realization of the gentle giant trope. She can also quickly become a fierce enemy for anyone who wishes to harm her and her comrades. With Erica Mendez at the help of the voice, Diane can still come across as very young despite being hundreds of years old. She can also carry a strong battle cry when fighting in wars throughout the series.

Erica Mendez would show a habit of playing strong unassuming characters, having played the role of Hao in Shaman King. She would also get to work alongside Lauren Landa more than once as she would play Lauren’s love interest, Sailor Uranus, in the Sailor Moon franchise. Erica would most recently get to play the role of Makio in Demon Slayer.

1 Meliodas – Bryce Papenbrook

Meliodas is the lead role of the series, and Bryce Papenbrook would have to pull double duty as the series went on, taking on the part of Meliodas’ younger brother Zeldris as well. Both characters would carry a strong sense of wrath and fury with them. Still, Meliodas would also be capable of great sadness and flirtatious joy, especially whenever he was around Elizabeth.

Bryce Papenbrook has one of the most recognizable voices throughout the entire cast, carrying vital roles throughout his career. The flirtatious banter can be heard when he plays Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. His wrath can be heard when he plays the impulsive Inosuke in Demon Slayer. And he would continue to play fan favorites when he takes on the role of Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan.
