#Judge Rules in Favor of Russell Simmons in $10 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Russell Simmons has been awarded a victory in a lawsuit brought against him by a Jane Doe, who alleged that the rap mogul sexually assaulted her in 1988. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Superior Court judge Mark H. Epstein handed down a summary judgement in favor of Simmons on November 13, stating that Doe’s lawsuit—filed in March 2018—falls at least four years outside of the statute of limitations.

Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Russell Simmons.

In June, a podcast interview with Simmons was pulled from TIDAL following backlash from journalist Sil Lai Abrams, one of three women who outlined allegations against Simmons in the HBO Max documentary On the Record.
