#What’s the meaning of ‘Willa,’ Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s baby’s name?

It may sound like a “Game of Thrones” character — but “Willa” is most likely a Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas original.

The “GoT” actress and her musician husband welcomed their daughter Willa on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Turner, 24, and Jonas, 30, made the addition to the Jonas empire, following the birth of older brother Kevin Jonas’ two kids, Valentina Angelina and Alena Rose. Nick Jonas married Priyanka Chopra in 2018, but they haven’t had children.

The baby’s name, Willa could have one of several meanings. Derived from the germanic word “Wil,” it could be taken to mean “will” or “desire,” according to Oh Baby! Names, which adds that the name was more common in the 1920s but has since fallen out of fashion. It could also mean “helmet or protection,” according to The Bump.

Prior to the latest Jonas, other famous Willas include the 1920s Pulitzer Prize-winning author Willa Cather, as well as actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s daughter with Mimi O’Donnell and Keri Russell’s daughter with ex-husband Shane Deary.

Most notably, Turner’s brother is named Will, making this a feminine version of the family name, especially in the UK, where Turner was born.

As for any “Game of Thrones” easter eggs here, the name is a minor character in the series that made Turner famous — a wildling who appeared in two episodes of the HBO show’s fifth season. Somehow we doubt that Turner would have any sort of attachment to the character, though.

Or, it could just be that the name sounded nice.

The two haven’t responded to The Post’s request for comment or shared their reasoning behind the name yet.

After becoming an item in 2016, the couple married in May 2019, first in a kitschy Vegas ceremony, Elvis impersonator and all. They later threw a more formal wedding at Château de Tourreau in Sarrians, France. Rumors swirled that they were expecting in February, followed by the stylish star’s best takes of pregnancy fashion.
