#Apple Released an Android App to Find AirTags – Review Geek

Apple users have been able to use and find AirTag trackers for more than half a year, and now Android users can join in on the fun. The company just released an Android app that allows those with that operating system to find AirTags.

The app, called Tracker Detect, lets Android users tap into Apple’s Find My network to find AirTags and other trackers. Apple’s had this detection app in the works since first announcing it back in June, and it will promptly alert users if and when they’re being tracked by an AirTag or similar Find My-enabled device. 

Those interested in the app will need to ensure their device is running at least Android 9 in order to download and use it. It’ll take up a measly 19MB on your phone, so you won’t have to worry about it hogging your precious storage much.

According to the app’s description in the Google Play Store, it “looks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. These item trackers include AirTag and compatible devices from other companies. If you think someone is using AirTag or another device to track your location, you can scan to try to find it.”

Tracker Detect is super easy to use, too. Simply open the app, tap the blue “Scan” button, and it will let you know within moments if there is a tracker near you. If one is found, you will see a prompt that’ll let you play a sound (within about 10 minutes of finding it) on the tracker so you can manually find it from there. The app also walks you through how to remove an AirTag’s battery so no further tracking can be done (that is, until you replace the battery).
