#We Finally Got To See Elden Ring, The Elusive Game By From Software/George R.R. Martin & I Have Mixed Opinion! » OmniGeekEmpire

The Summer Games finally showed us Elden Ring, a fantasy action-RPG adventure set within a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki – creator of the influential Dark Souls video game series; and George R.R. Martin – author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire and I’m going to be quite honest here. I’m actually mixed here.

Look, I get it. This is a game from From Software, the studio that gave us Dark Souls and Sekiro, however, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from Cyberpunk 2077, it’s to not be blinded by hype. I’m going to be honest, I saw nothing special that set it apart from what we’re used to seeing from From Software. It has that aesthetic that we’ve all come to be accustom to, and I know that the story is going to be very intriguing. However, knowing that this game is also coming to last-gen as well put a damper on my hype. If I may be so bold, I would even argue that the Demon Souls PS5 remake looks slightly better than what was shown today.

It’s hard to explain but I was expecting a leap in graphics (I know that’s not important to gaming), something that said “this is Dark Soul taken to the next level”. Maybe they showed us last-gen stuff and are saving the big guns for a later reveal. Once again, aesthetically the game looks awesome but it didn’t feel like it’s pushing the hardware at all. Let’s hope I’m wrong here. The story is going to be great so I’m looking forward to exploring and uncover what this world has to offer.
