#First responders pause search for missing Rockaway swimmer

First responders have paused their search for a swimmer who went missing at Rockaway beach Friday due to bad weather, police said.

A woman in her 20s is unaccounted for and at least another woman was saved after police and firefighters responded to calls of missing swimmers off Beach 88th Street at around 7:15 p.m.

A surfer helped first responders pull one of the women out of the water, police said.

The search will resume Saturday morning.

Video from the scene posted to the Citizen app shows multiple police vehicles and a police helicopter gathered near the water.
