“Ghibli Park Opens Theme Park Entrance Early for Free to All”
Construction on Studio Ghibli’s Aichi-based theme park continues ahead of its November 1 opening but ahead of schedule, the 19th Century inspired “Elevator Tower” entrance to Ghibli Park was completed and opened to the public free of charge. Ghibli showcased the building in a series of tweets explaining that the 19th Century aesthetic was the influence on how Laputa: Castle in the Sky looked.

The building is open now to those who visit the Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park in Aichi prefecture for free, while the rest of Ghibli Park is set to open on November 1 with the Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse area, the Hill of Youth, and the Dondoko Forest. The second stage of the park’s opening, which includes the Valley of the Witches and Mononoke Village, isn’t yet dated.
