#Hank Aaron still holds the real home run record

Hank Aaron, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, died Friday at age 86. The Hall of Famer holds a host of records, from the most runs batted in (2,297), the most seasons as an all-star (21) to the most home runs ever (755) …

What’s that you say? Aaron has the second most home runs ever?

Well, to believe that you have to accept that Barry Bonds, with 762, didn’t cheat to get there. That he didn’t take human growth hormones, the infamous “cream” and “clear,” which turned his Bill Bixby frame into Lou Ferrigno. Google “Barry Bonds before and after” and tell us that’s all mom’s cooking.

Bonds denied the allegations, then later argued ignorance. He didn’t know what he was taking, he testified, and thought it was all natural.

Voters have kept Bonds out of the Baseball Hall of Fame over this scandal, but somehow he retains his home-run record. This is wrong. Aaron showed awesome skill when, unaided by pharmaceuticals, he broke Babe Ruth’s seemingly unbreakable record. And Aaron showed grace and humility when he congratulated Bonds for beating his mark, though it was clear to everyone that it was tainted.

Hank Aaron was a tremendous ambassador for baseball, and we can think of one way baseball can honor him in death. MLB, give him back his home run record.
