Billie Eilish was a headliner at Austin City Limits on Saturday, and during the pop star’s set at the Texas festival, she spoke out against new abortion laws recently enacted in the state.
The new laws prohibit abortions after six weeks with no exceptions for rape and incest and allows private citizens to sue abortion providers in federal court for $10,000. “When they made that shit a law,” Eilish said between songs, “I almost didn’t want to do the show, because I wanted to punish this fucking place for allowing that to happen here. But then, I remembered that it’s you guys that are the fucking victims, and you deserve everything in the world. And we have to tell them to shut the fuck up.” She concludes by raising a middle finger and shouting: “My body, my fucking choice!”
