A new key visual was revealed for the upcoming survival thriller anime Tomodachi Game. The anime adaptation was first announced last November and will premiere on April 5th, 2022. Crunchyroll will be streaming the series as part of its upcoming spring lineup. 

Singer-songwriter saji was also announced to be singing the anime’s ending theme “Tomoshibi.” Nana Mizuki will sing the opening theme “Double Shuffle.” 

The main cast of Tomodachi Game is highlighted by Chiaki Kobayashi as Yuuichi Katagiri, Daiki Hamano as Tenji Misaka, Yume Miyamoto as Shiho Sawaragi, Tomohiro Oono as Makoto Shibe, and Satomi Amano as Yutori Kokorogi.

Okuruto Noburu is handling the animation production. Hirofumi Ogura (Cells at Work!) is serving as the series director. Kenta Ihara (Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-)  is handling scriptwriting and Satomi Miyazaki (Vinland Saga animation director) is the anime’s character designer. Si Man Wei (Edens Zero) is the art director, Tsukasa Ohira (No Game, No Life) is the art designer, Aiko Mizuno (Cells at Work!) is the key color artist, and Yomogiko Murano (Attack on Titan The Final Season) is the director of photography. MICHIRU (Ascendance of a Bookworm) is the anime’s music composer while Hiroto Morishita (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU) is in charge of sound direction. 

The original Tomodachi Game manga was written by Mikoto Yamaguchi and Yuuki Satou, with the latter handling illustrations. Yamaguchi is also credited with the story’s original concept. It was first serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in December 2013 and currently has tankoubon volumes published. The manga series also inspired a 2017 four-episode television drama and two live-action films later that year. 

Crunchyroll describes Tomodachi Game as: 

High school student Katagiri Yuichi, who values friendship above all else, enjoys a fulfilling life with his close friends Sawagiri Shiho, Mikasa Tenji, Shibe Makoto, and Kokorogi Yutori.

However, after a particular incident, they’re dragged into a debt repayment game.

The only way to beat the “Tomodachi Game” is to not doubt their friends. Bound together by solid friendships, the game should’ve been easy, but– The hugely popular comic that sold over two million copies is finally becoming an anime! Will they trust or betray their precious friends? The true nature of humanity is exposed in the ultimate psychological game!
