#Voice of Re:ZERO’s Rem Plays a Cow Butt in New Farm Equipment Commercial

Voice actress Inori Minase has a lot of beloved characters on her CV, from Re:ZERO‘s Rem to The Quintessential Quintuplets‘s Itsuki. Her latest role is something of a departure, to say the least: she’s playing a cow’s butt.

The character of “Uchi no Oshiri-chan” appears in a new short video created by NTT DoCoMo, promoting electronic gear for farmers working remotely. The gear in question is used to monitor pregnant cows, and is connected to an app allowing farmers to note impending labor and other important data.

The video is kind of cute… and also a little weird, considering the things it depicts while still remaining generally family friendly. We think. Minase narrates the video as a cute-voiced cow rear, explaining the use and importance of the equipment.

The video can also be viewed on its own special page, which bears the rather insistent title “TALK WITH COW BUM.”

All joking aside, this technology will likely be a game-changer for farmers during and after lockdown. Pregnant cows must be checked on throughout the night — which can be difficult if you’re alone or low on staff — and health emergencies can make deliveries difficult or dangerous if not accounted for in a timely manner. The app hopes to keep farmers informed, give them 24 hours’ notice before birthing begins, and (ultimately) ensure the safety of both livestock and dairy herds.

If Inori Minase playing a cow butt can get that to happen, more power to them.
