Coronavirus can’t put these Fourth of July celebrations on ice.

Singer Vanilla Ice announced via Instagram that he will be holding a July 4 throwback concert in Austin, Texas — one of the states currently seeing a rise in coronavirus cases.

Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, said that the concert will feature hit songs from the 90s.

“The 90s were the best. We didn’t have coronavirus, or cell phones, or computers. We had 5.0’s, blockbuster, Beavis and Butthead, Wayne’s World, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan … Mortal Kombat is still better than Fortnight … the last of the great decades,” he wrote on the post.

The venue, Emerald Point Bar & Grill, is located on the shores of Lake Travis and features an outdoor restaurant as well as extensive grounds that it claims will help keep everyone within the CDC’s social distancing guidelines.

Texas, which has seen a surge of almost 8,000 new cases in the last week, has recently been forced to shutter all of its bars and restaurants to prevent the outbreak. The city of Austin itself has seen a 28 percent positive testing rate.
