Vandals are tampering with NYPD car tires, warns police union boss

Vandals are placing the lives of NYPD cops in danger by loosening the lug nuts on the tires of their personal vehicles, police union boss Pat Lynch warned.

In a chilling stay-safe missive Wednesday to 24,000 Police Benevolent Association members, Lynch said a Brooklyn South cop returned to his car at the end of his shift to find his tires tampered with.

“We are working in an extremely dangerous environment,” Lynch cautioned.

Lynch called the misdeed, which occurred in the vicinity of the 67th Precinct stationhouse on Snyder Avenue in East Flatbush, a “clear act of sabotage.”

The PBA boss advised cops to “carefully inspect both Department vehicles and their personal vehicles for any potential sabotage. Any sabotage or vandalism MUST be reported to command supervisors immediately upon discovery. Stationhouse security MUST be given the highest priority at all times and at all NYPD facilities.”

A PBA spokesman said the matter was “under investigation.”

In January 2015, a month after two NYPD cops were shot and killed by a gunman in alleged retaliation for the death of Eric Garner in police custody sixmonths before, the Post reported cop haters had turned to loosening officers’ tire lug nuts on their personal or work cars with the goal of causing fatal crashes.

“Things have gotten so bad between the police and the community,” a law enforcement source told The Post at the time. “I’ve never seen it this bad.”
