#Unpacking the 10 Most Anticipated Winter 2025 Anime

Happy 2025 everyone! We hope you’ve had a great holiday and start to the year. Many great shows aired throughout 2024, such as Delicious in Dungeon, DAN DA DAN, Kaiju No. 8, and Blue Box just to name a few.

Although we’re only breaking down the top 10 most anticipated Winter 2025 anime results, you can find the full ranking list in a previous post we recently published. I’m also going to try and make these new seasonal breakdowns a thing on our website, so feel free to check out my last breakdown from Spring 2024 as well.

Now, with any new season, you’ll often get a mix of sequels to existing shows and fresh adaptations receiving their first premiere. We’re getting a lot of sequels this season, and our most anticipated poll results reflect that high anticipation for these anime. Let’s get right into breaking down these results.

The Apothecary Diaries Season 2

Genre: Historical, Drama, Mystery

Episodes: TBD

Studio: TOHO Animation Studio, OLM

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

Maomao and friends are back for a second season, and our ever-curious heroine is more than willing to subject herself to new poisons. Despite losing its perfect 5-star rating on Crunchyroll, the anime series is still highly rated for its weekly mysteries and dramatic intrigue. I’m also looking forward to seeing the cast of characters again and seeing just how far Maomao and Jinshi’s relationship will go.

SAKAMOTO DAYS

Genre: Action, Comedy

Episodes: TBD

Studio: TMS Entertainment

Where to Watch: Netflix

Sakamoto Days is one of the anime that social media have been hyping up, even before an anime was officially announced. With the prevalence of Weekly Shonen Jump works being simulpublished in English, this series was one that was destined to get an anime at some point.

From what we’ve seen so far, it looks pretty good, and seeing a badass white-haired dad wipe the floor with some assassins is a must-see for me.

Genre: Drama, Suspense, Fantasy

Episodes: 16

Studio: White Fox

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

Once and for all Re:ZERO fans, the third season of the “Counterattack Arc” is a split-cour series, mainly because of the huge time period from when the first cour ended to the debut of the second cour in February. Now that that’s out of the way, it’s no surprise the second part of the third season is highly anticipated as it is. Re:ZERO always adds a lot of narrative conflict in these high-stakes story arcs, and hopefully we’ll get an awesome conclusion to the arc.

I also want to give out a heartfelt congratulations to two of the series’ voice cast members, Yusuke Kobayashi and Yumi Uchiyama, for announcing their marriage earlier last week. As a result, we’re already getting plenty of Subaru and Puck fanart, proving the latter was best girl/boy all along. And don’t get me started on the Subaru x Rudeus Greyrat fanart.

Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Episodes: 13

Studio: A-1 Pictures

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

Overpowered solo leveler Sung-Jin Woo will once again prove why he’s the badass every guy wants to be and why you wouldn’t be mad if he stole your girl. Season two will have already started by the time of this writing, so you won’t have to feel FOMO if you didn’t catch the previews in that recent compilation film

I’m personally excited to see how far they take Sung Jinwoo’s character development and how he continues to build his power. There is nothing else I want to add for this show, other than to make it an appointment viewing every week.

My Happy Marriage Season 2

Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Historical

Episodes: 13

Studio: Kinema Citrus

Where to Watch: Netflix

The latest trailer for My Happy Marriage Season 2 has already increased my hate for Miyo’s cousin. I’m hoping he won’t be too much of a thorn in Kudo and Miyo’s relationship because they faced a lot of threats last season. Considering what she’s gone through so far, I’m hoping Miyo gets her deserved happiness, even as parties with ulterior motives vie for her power.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 2

Genre: Harem, Comedy, Romance

Episodes: TBD

Studio: Bibury Animation Studios

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

I’m really, really, really, really, really happy to see harem gigachad Rentaro back for more chaotic love confessions in this new season. We’re promised five new heroines that will be joining Rentaro’s ever-growing harem, with each having a distinct personality and quality.

How crazy will these romantic encounters be? What will the love confessions look like? Will Rentaro reach his goal of attaining 100 girlfriends? Only time will tell.

Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE

Genre: Adventure, Science Fiction

Episodes: TBD

Studio: TMS Entertainment

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

In the words of that one famous Neil Diamond song, “We’re going to America” perfectly sums up the fourth and presumably final season of the long-running Dr. STONE anime. There’s been progress on Senku and friends’ quest to determine what caused the petrification of humanity and it somehow involves building a rocketship to the moon. Naturally, the best place to gather resources to build one can be found in the good ol’ USA. Surely, nothing will go wrong there, right?

Honey Lemon Soda

Genre: Romance

Episodes: TBD

Studio: J.C Staff

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

Honey Lemon Soda is another anime in a line of high-profile shojo manga adaptations such as A Sign of Affection and Nina the Starry Bride. The original manga was popular with shojo manga fans and it was only inevitable that an anime adaptation would arrive at some point. The series looks promising and cute, so I’m hoping to see how the first episode turns out.

The manga is also licensed by Yen Press, so you can read some of it before the first episode comes out.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2

Genre: Supernatural

Episodes: TBD

Studio: Lerche

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

Expect to encounter some more ghouls and phantoms in the second season of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun. I’m honestly quite surprised by how much this series has attracted a following, but I guess it’s because of its unique and cute art style. I have nothing else to add, other than I hope Hanako tries to appreciate Nene’s thick thighs for what they are.

ZENSHU

Genre: Adventure, Slice of Life

Episodes: 12

Studio: MAPPA

Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

I had some initial thoughts for this anime based on watching the first few trailers for this series. However, I threw all my preconceived thoughts out the window after catching the first episode. Without giving away any spoilers, the anime you think you’ll get with ZENSHU is not the same as what you’ll get after watching it

There are some very interesting aspects of the show I hope can develop over the course of 12 episodes. I think it’s a show worth sticking with for a few episodes.
