#Uncle of slain NYC tot describes frantic drive to hospital: ‘Blood everywhere’

The uncle of a 1-year-old Brooklyn boy struck by a stray bullet at a family barbecue described furiously driving the bleeding baby to a hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his wounds early Monday morning.

“I felt like I couldn’t drive fast enough,” the man, who gave his name as E. Ross, told reporters across the street from the scene of the shooting in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The grieving uncle said he’d just returned to the cookout outside Raymond Bush Playground after taking his daughter home on Sunday night when he saw one person shot in the leg and “heard everybody screaming.”

His nephew Davell Gardner, just two months shy of his second birthday, was hit in the stomach when multiple gunmen approached the gathering and opened fire before running off, cops said.

After the shooting, Ross said someone rushed the baby into his car.

“Someone dragged [Davell] in my car … They gave the baby to me, I can’t hold the baby and drive so everybody got in my car,” he said.

The boy’s mother was in such shock that Ross recalled how she “couldn’t hold the baby” and was “screaming, screaming.”

Little Davell was “shaking — I couldn’t touch him,” Ross said, adding there was “blood everywhere, squirting out” and a “big hole in his stomach.”

In the car, Davell’s mother clutched her son’s favorite dinosaur blanket, which was covered in blood, and which she still has, Ross said.

Ross remembered getting to Maimonides Medical Center and “banging on the door.” He said he was told that Davell would be fine.

“Next thing I know they call and tell them he didn’t make it,” Ross said. “I’m furious now, to see him in the car. To see the blood in the car.”

“Now my nephew is dead, for what?”

Police said three adult men, ages 27, 35 and 36, were also struck in the fusillade.

He speculated the shooting had been gang-related, calling the gunman who killed his nephew “A coward … A f–ing coward.”

As of late Monday, authorities had not identified any suspect or motive in the attack, though police sources said that an earlier altercation at the barbecue was being probed.

The event was held to celebrate Davell’s mom, who had recently moved into a new home, Ross said. She also has a 7-year-old daughter.

“She’s at a point that she don’t wanna be here,” Ross said of the devastated woman.

Earlier on Monday, Davell’s heartbroken mother, too distraught to even give her name, told The Post that she had to “watch my 1-year-old son dead on a table.”

“What am I gonna do?” she said.
