Barry Hudson-Muscroft, 33, of Prestwich, was sentenced Monday after a judge characterized his actions as “plumbing the depths of depravity,” the Manchester Evening News reports.
Prosecutors said the married former recruitment consultant shared video of himself raping a child after joining a group for sickos with sexual interests in children on Kik Messenger called “Share Bears No Limits,” where he used the moniker “Diablo1987,” the newspaper reports.
Hudson-Muscroft shared the revolting footage with 37 others and reportedly tried to obtain similar video from others in the group. When asked by other members, Hudson-Muscroft said he was interested in “anything from 0 to 15,” referring to his young victims’ ages, according to the Manchester Evening News.
“I’m into all sorts, young, anything from 0-15 mainly into girls but have been with guys before … but the guys were older,” Hudson-Muscroft bragged online, The Sun reports. “Not into pain stuff really. Also like panties.”
A deputy US sheriff working undercover at the time spotted Hudson-Muscroft’s shared images and messages and tipped off FBI authorities, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
Hudson-Muscroft, who had no prior criminal convictions, was arrested by UK police the following day, the newspaper reports.
Authorities said Hudson-Muscroft had also downloaded more than 4,000 indecent images of children over a four-year period prior to his arrest. Prior to his sentencing, he pleaded guilty to two counts of raping a child and also admitted trying to engage in sexual chats with juvenile girls, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
Hudson-Muscroft, who must register as a sex offender for life upon his release from prison, had been married for two-plus years before his wife left him over the “devastating impact” of his actions that she previously had known nothing about.
“His wife, with whom he had been in a relationship for 16 years … described their relationship as a normal, happy one without any problems at all,” prosecutor Alaric Bassano said Monday.
She has since filed a restraining order against him, The Sun reports.
