#Ubel Blatt Premieres January 2025, Unveils New Visual, Staff & PV Trailer

A new key visual and PV trailer for Ubel Blatt was released during a panel for the anime at this year’s Anime Expo. The series will begin broadcasting in Japan in January 2025.

The English-subbed trailer reveals the addition of Hina Tachibana as Peepi, joining Yuya Hirose as the main protagonist, Köinzell, and the main prosecution staff.
Takashi Naoya (Tales of Wedding Rings, Am I Actually the Strongest?) is directing the anime adaptation, with Tatsuya Takahashi (The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of Rust Mountains) as series screenwriter and Kiyoshi Tateishi (Gekidol, Vall x Love) as character designer. Satelight and Staple Entertainment are handling the animation production.
Etorouji Shiono’s dark fantasy manga series first ran in Square Enix’s Gangan YG in 2004, before moving to Young Gangan later that year until 2009. After a two-year hiatus, the manga returned to Monthly Big Gangan on December 24, 2011 and was serialized there until March 25, 2019. A total of 24 tankobon volumes were released, which includes the first “Volume 0.”
A sequel titled Ubel Blatt II: The Knights of the Deceased King has been running in Monthly Big Gangan since February 24, 2024.

Pony Canyon describes the synopsis of Ubel Blatt as:
Rumors stir throughout the land: when the wielder of the black sword draws his dark blade, all who stand in its path are torn asunder…! Köinzell, the mysterious young boy who carries the black sword, undeniably wields it with exceptional skill, but can he truly be responsible for the bloody rumors? Pursued by the Traitorous Lances, four powerful warriors who were thought to have been defeated by the Seven Heroes, the strength of the young swordsman will be tested to its limit. At battle’s end, only the shocking truth of Köinzell’s quest will stand above the corpses of his enemies… An epic fantasy on the grandest of scales!
