#Seven states report new highs for coronavirus hospitalizations

Seven states are reporting their highest number of coronavirus hospitalizations since the pandemic began, a report on Tuesday found.

The states experiencing a spike in hospitalizations were Arizona, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, according to data tracked by The Washington Post.

In addition, the number of COVID-19 cases continued to rise across the South and West.

Texas and California tallied more than 5,000 new infections each over a 24-hour span, setting new records.

Arizona, Nevada and Missouri also logged new single-day highs.

There were more than 800 COVID-19 deaths reported in the U.S. on Tuesday, the first time fatalities have increased since June 7.
