#Two women dead in fire at Manhattan high-rise apartment building

Two women were killed in a fire at an Upper Manhattan high-rise apartment building early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The victims, ages 37 and 73, suffered smoke inhalation from the blaze that broke out just after midnight in a 24th floor apartment at a building on Audubon Avenue near West 178th Street in Washington Heights, police said.

Both women were taken to nearby hospitals, but could not be saved, cops said. Their names were not immediately released.

No other injuries were reported in the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
