#Here’s How the Pixel 6 Got Its Unique Colors – Review Geek

Of all the factors that pushed Pixel 6 to become a successful product, its unique design and use of color may be the most important. Shades like Sorta Sunny look gorgeous, and even the Stormy Black colorway manages to stand out from other phones. Now, Google is explaining its collaborative design process, and it’ll make you appreciate the Pixel 6 even more than before.

Everything starts with Google’s Color Material and Finish team (better known as CMF). And yeah, I meant to say “starts.” The CMF team works with Google’s engineers while products are in development. In the words of CMF manager Jenny Davis, “we don’t design color after the hardware design is done—we actually do it together.”

As the Pixel 6 hardware took shape, the CMF team had time to experience its premium look and feel. It could then pull together loose items, like jewelry, seashells, clothing, and silverware and search for unique colors to complement the Pixel 6’s size, shape, and textures.

Interestingly, this is the first year that Google has pushed transparent cases for its Pixel lineup. The company usually makes cute fabric cases that hide its phones’ design, but these transparent cases simply add to the Pixel 6’s colors. And as Google explains, its accessories team took the time to make the transparent cases look good with every new colorway, providing customers a degree of customization.
